One of the main reasons for WWI was the entangling alliances. Countries would make secret alliances with many other countries. This type of partnership created a tense balance of power which eventually caused a domino effect that resulted in the massive WWI.

Moral Diplomacy was a form of diplomacy that was defended by President Woodrow Wilson during his 1912 election. He defended that the US would only support countries that defended the same beliefs as the US did, as a way to increase the number of democratic countries in the world.
