i think the first amendment should protect material depicting animal cruelty because having a place to show people how bad it really is for animals is an imortant way to spread awareness and help raise more activists to fight against it. some consequences of criminalizing this type of speech could be that not as many people know when something does/doesn't pass the line of animal cruelty, causing more people to be able to get away with it. criminalizing the material produced on animal cruelty causes more people to be uninformed and uneducated about the subject.
