California is working on an "" intelligent highway"" system that would allow computer-controlled automobiles to travel faster and closer together on freeways than today’s human- controlled cars. What kinds of safety devices would have to be in such a system in order for you to feel comfortable using an intelligent highway? How many people in class would be comfortable being one of the first people to use the intelligent highway?

Intelligent Highway system:

As quoted, Intelligent Highway system would allow computer-controlled automobiles to travel faster and closer together on freeways than today's human-controlled cars, there are a number of security of concerns which need to be overlooked before the implementation of such a system.

First of all the cars should be equipped with an appropriate number of airbags to ensure safety in case something goes wrong. There should be an algorithm to make sure that there are no vehicles within a range of at least 5 meters to ensure proper spacing between cars.

The speed limit should always be kept in check. A constant speed should be maintained throughout the highway. The cars travelling around should accelerate and decelerate at the same rate to avoid collisions.
