Why didn't china undergo widespread industrilization

Answer:

China was a Confucian nation and those ideals were rooted deep in their culture and thinking. The industrialization went against those Confucian ideals and they saw agriculture as the best and only way. Besides that, they saw the nations outside of their own Empire as lesser and did not want to partake in such barbarous ways of production. But the latter one had less of an impact.
