The revenue from selling general admission tickets is given by the function R(t)=12t, where "t" is the number of tickets sold. The fire marshall limits the maximum number of tickets sold to 1,000. The profit is a function of the revenue "R" and is given by the function P(R)=0.80R. What is the domain of the profit function P(R)?

Answer:

0≤ R ≤ 12000

Explanation:

The domain of the profit function P(R) is the range of the function R(t).

Minimum and maximum values R(t) can assume will be the boundaries of the domain of the profit function. Thus,

  • If no tickets are being sold then t=0 and

R(t) =12×0 = 0 . This is the minimum value of the range of R(t)

  • If the maximum allowed tickets are being sold then t=1000 and

R(t)=12×1000 = 12000

Therefore profit function has the domain between 0 and 12000
