The top of a mountain in california has an altitude of 14925 ft sea level. The bottom of death valley is 282 ft below sea level. Using 0 as sea level find the difference between these two elevations

Answer: The difference between these two elevations is 15207 ft.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

Altitude of the top of a mountain in California from sea level = 14925 ft

Bottom of death valley below the sea level = 282 ft

Since Mountain is above the sea level so, it is expressed with positive sign as

(+)14925 ft

Death valley is below the sea level so, it is expressed with negative sign as (-)282 ft

So, difference between these two elevations is given by


14925-(-282)\\\\=14925+282\\\\=15207\ ft

Hence, the difference between these two elevations is 15207 ft.
