Answer:

Clara = 12

Mother = 36

Explanation:

Let

Clara's age be "c" and her mom's age is "m"

Ratio of Clara to Mom is 3 is to 11, thus we can write:

(c)/(m)=(3)/(11)

Age difference is 24, thus we can write:

m - 24 = c

We put this into 1st equation and solve for m first:

(c)/(m)=(3)/(11)\\(m-24)/(m)=(3)/(11)

Now we solve:

(m-24)/(m)=(3)/(11)\\11m-264=3m\\8m = 264\\m = 33

So, c = 33 - 24 = 9

So, Clara's age = 9 and her Mother's age = 33

So after 3 years:

Clara = 9 + 3 = 12

Mother = 33 + 3 = 36
