it is a simultaneous equation and I used Elimination method


2x + 8y = 18(equ \: 1) \\ y = - x + 6 \: \\ y + x = 6 \: (equ \: 2) \\ \\ from \:( equ2) \\ \: x = 6 - y \: (equ \: 3 )\\ sub. \: (equ3) \: in \: (equ2) \\ 2(6 - y )+ 8y = 18 \\ 12 - 2y + 8y = 18 \\ 6y = 18 - 12 \\ 6y = 6 \\ (6y)/(6) = (6)/(6) \\ y = 1 \\ \\ sub. \: y \: in \: equ3 \\ x = 6 - y \\ x = 6 - 1 \\ x = 5 \\ \\ \\ y = 1 \: \: x = 5
