Your car's gas tank holds 18.6 gallons and is one quarter full. Your car gets 16 miles/gal. You see a sign ahead saying "next gas 73 miles." Your often wrong brother, who is driving, is sure you'll make it without running out of gas. You're not so sure and do some quick figuring.

Answer:

Calculation is okay

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the gas is 1/4 full, you have

1/4*18.6 gallons=4.65 gallons

With the speed of consumption of 16 miles/gallon, you will go a distance of

16*4.65=74.4 miles

Since the next gas is 73 miles away, you will arrive at the gas station when you still have some fuel assuming your speed is constant throughout the journey. Therefore, your calculation is perfect
