Organize:
Choose the organizational pattern that best suits your topic.
• Topical (moves from idea to idea, theme to theme, etc.)
• Chronological (uses time sequences for a framework)
• Problem and Solution (presents a problem with one or more solutions)
• Cause and Effect (a popular and specific version of the problem and solution model)
Don’t forget to frame your presentation with an introduction and conclusion.
The introduction should
• Get the audience’s attention.
• Present your topic in a clear and interesting way.
• Show the topic’s importance.
• Forecast the main points or major ideas of your presentation.
The conclusion should
• Inform the audience that you’re about to close.
• Summarize the main points of your presentation.
• Leave the audience with an idea or concept to remember or to ponder.
Present:
How you deliver your presentation is almost as important as its content.
• Use a tone appropriate to your audience.
• Use a style appropriate to your topic and audience.
• Speak clearly.
