The number of laps rounded off to the nearest tenth is 16.09

Solution:

It is given that each lap in a pool is 100 meters long. We need to find out how many laps equal one mile and we have to round the answer to the nearest tenth.

According to the conversion factor of miles to metres we know that;

1 mile = 1609.34 m

We have been given that each lap in the pool is 100 m long therefore the number of laps taken are:

(1609.34)/(100)=16.0934

Therefore, if we take 16.0934 laps in the pool we will cover a distance of 1 mile.

Now we need to round off the answer to the nearest tenth of the number which will be 16.09 laps
