In fenzars, the genes for twisted horns (t) and purple lips (p) are 12 map units apart. Phenotypically wild-type females (t+p / tp+) were mated to twisted-horned males with purple lips. What percent of offspring would you expect to have twisted horns and wild type lips? Group of answer choices

Answer:

44%

Step-by-step explanation:

Parent 1 : wild type = t+p/tp+

Parent 2: recessive type = tp/tp

If t and p genes are 12 map units apart that means that they are linked genes and can have 12% recombinants. Parental type offspring would be 88%. Here parental gametes from parent 1 are t+p and tp+.

When tp+ gametes combine with tp gametes from parent 2 we will get the genotype tp+/tp which will result in twisted horns and wild type lips. Out of the total 88% parental type offspring, this genotype would be 44% since t+p/tp will make rest 44% offspring genotype.

Hence, 44% offspring would have twisted horns and wild type lips.
