Answer: The function of company A.

Explanation:

For a linear equation:

y = a*x + b

the rate of change is "a", the coefficient that is multiplicating the variable.

Now, for company A we know that:

There is a fixed fee of $50, and $150 for each day.

So if you rent the car for x days, the total cost will be:

y = $150*x + $50

Then for this company, the rate of change is $150.

For company B we have the function:

y = $50*(2x + 1)

Where again, x is the number of days that you rent the car.

We can rewrite this as:

y = $50*2*x + $50*1

y = $100*X + $50

In this case, the rate of change is $100

Then the company with a great rate of change is the function for company A.
