First, add 5 & m to both sides:

2m (+ m) - 5 (+ 5) = - m (+ m) + 7 (+ 5)

2m + m = 7 + 5

Simplify. Combine like terms:

3m = 12

Isolate the variable, m. Divide 3 from both sides:

(3m)/3 = (12)/3

m = 12/3

m = 4

m = 4 is your answer.
