375 adult tickets were sold for the school play.

Solution:

Given that,

Total number of ticket sold for school play = 810 tickets

There are two types of ticket, one type for adults and one type for student.

Also given that 60 more student tickets sold than adult tickets.

Need to calculate how many adult ticket were sold.

Let assume number of adult ticket sold be represented by variable x.

As 60 more student tickets sold than adult tickets,

So,
$\text { number of student ticket }=\text { number of adult ticket }+60=x+60$

As total ticket sold = student ticket sold + adult ticket sold =
x+(x+60)=2 x+60

As total ticket sold = 810,

$\Rightarrow 2 x+60=810$

Solving above expression to get the value of x

$\Rightarrow 2 \mathrm{x}=810-60$

$\Rightarrow \mathrm{x}=(750)/(2)=375$

Adult tickets sold = x = 375

Hence, 375 adult tickets were sold.
