Is the number -3 or -1 a solution of 2x + 1 > - 3 ?

For this case we have the following inequality:


2x + 1> -3

Subtracting 1 from both sides of the inequality we have:


2x> -3-1\\2x> -4

Dividing between 2 on both sides of the inequality we have:


x> - \frac {4} {2}\\x> -2

Thus, the solution is given by all the values of "x" greater than -2.

Therefore, -3 is not a solution to inequality. -1 if it is a solution to inequality.
