The vertices of a triangle are A(-6,-4), B(-3,5) and C (1,-1) . Name the vertices of the image reflected across the x axis ?

Answer:

A'(-6,4) B'(-3,-5) C'(1,1)

Explanation:

The x-coordinate remains the same, but the y-coordinate is changed to the opposite (sign is changed).

The rule for reflection over the x-axis is (x,y) -> (x, -y)

Ex:

A(-6, -4) becomes A'(-6,4). In this example you can see the x-coordinate (-6) remains the same and the y-coordinate (-4) is changed to it's opposite (4).
