William Penn (October 14, 1644–July 30, 1718) founded the Province of Pennsylvania. the British North American colony that become the United state's. of Pennsylvania. The democratic principles that he set , served as an inspiration for the United States Constitution.

Peter Stuyvesant was famous as the last Dutch Director-General of the colony of New Netherland until it was ceded to the British. He was the son of a minister ,he received a good education studying in Franeker. In April 1644 he held an attack on the the Portuguese island of Saint Martin and was badly hurt.
