Read the story.

Ever since his father hurt his back baling hay for the horses, Jonah had been taking on more responsibility around the family’s farm. A lanky boy of 15, with a shock of blond hair as sun bleached as summer wheat, Jonah was too young to run off and join the navy. His older brother, Sam, had signed up right after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor five months before on December 7, 1941. In addition to his brother’s chores and his own, Jonah had to take on the work that had been done by the three of them only months before. Consequently, Jonah didn’t have time to go to school since the work had to be done during the daylight. When he told his parents that he wanted to drop out of school completely, his mother wouldn’t hear of it. “You need an education if you want to get ahead in this world,” she told him.

Which phrase from the excerpt is an analogy?

"baling hay for the horses"

Answer:

The correct answer is "hair as sun bleached as summer wheat."

Step-by-step explanation:

An analogy is a rhetorical device that compares things, making reference to some common things so readers can understand more easily the speaker's intention.

In the story, the analogy comes in the indicated excerpt, since the speaker compares Jonah's blond hair with summer wheat, giving both the same color.
