You are making a big picture frame . two pieces of wood are cut to form complementary angles so they fit together. one angle needs to be (7x+23) and the other angle needs to be (3x+27) . what is the measure of the larger angle

Two angles A and B are said to be complimentary angles if and only if their measure adds up to 90°.

∠A + ∠B = 90°.

So, here given (7 x+23)and (3 x+27) are complimentary.

(7 x+23) + (3 x+27) = 90°

or, 10 x + 50 = 90°

⇒ 10 x = 90° - 50 = 40°

or, x = 40/ 10 =

So, the first angle = (7 x+23) = 7 (4) + 23 = 51°

and the second angle is (3 x+27) = 3(4) + 27 = 39°

Hence, the measure of the larger angle is (7 x + 23) = 51°
