A police officer is sitting in a restaurant with three fishing buddies on a day off. He is in plainclothes and is not noticed by two patrol officers sitting at the counter having coffee. The uniformed patrol officers get up and leave without paying or even leaving a tip. One of the civilian fishing partners also observes this and comments that this place really appreciates having police around because of the rough neighborhood. In fact, the owner had just been telling him how great the guys were and that a little free coffee is mighty cheap insurance. Both officers are good men and have been on the department about five to six years. What should you do?

Step-by-step explanation:

From the given incident it is seen that the police officers who were in the restaurant having coffee left the restaurant without paying for the coffee or did not pay any tip to the manager of the restaurant.

The owner of the restaurant says that it is both police officers are good policemen and a little free coffee to the police officers are a small insurance or tip for him because the neighborhood where the restaurant is situated is rough and people in the neighborhood are not good. They quarrel and mostly fight with each other.

The owner of the restaurant thinks that by offering free coffee to the police will help him and the policemen will always support and protect him from any harm

But this act is wrong on both the parties. The owner should not give bribe in any means to the police men. Giving bribe and accepting bribe is a form of crime. As a good citizen h should not provide any free coffee to the policemen which is a form of bribe.

Also it is the duty of the policemen to protect the people from any harm and to bring them to justice. It is always considered a good deed to provide a tip to the owner who offers service to them.
