at a dairy plant a milk tank can be filled in 8 hours using the outbound the tank can be emptied in 12 hours if both valves are open and milk is being pumped into the tank how long will it take to fill the tank ​

The milk tank can be filled in 8 hours through a valve.

So, in one hour the tank can be filled by
(1)/(8) part of the tank through this valve.

Again another valve takes 12 hours to empty the tank.

So, in one hour the tank can be emptied by
(1)/(12) part of the tank through this valve.

Hence, if both the valves are open then within one hour the tank will be filled by
((1)/(8) -(1)/(12) ) =(1)/(24) parts.

Therefore, the whole tank will be filled by
(1)/((1)/(24) ) = 24 hours. (Answer)
