Give the slope-intercept form of the equation of the line that is perpendicular to 5x+2y=12 and contains the point (2, 3)

Hint: solve for y=mx+b in order to get the slope (m) and then substitute in the slope and the point to find b

Answer:

y=2/5x+1

Explanation:

Change the equation to slope intercept form

5x+2y=12

-5x -5x

2y=-5x+12

divide by 2

y=-5x/2+6

The slope is -5/2 so, you need to find the reciprocal of that which is 2/5.

that is your new slope.

plot the point (2,3)

next plot another point using the slope and draw a line, connecting them.

where it crosses the y axis will be the "b"

So, y=mx+b is the equation..

m is the slope

b is the y intercept(wherethe line crosses the y axis)

So, y=2/5x+1
