Note that you can always add 0 by including 4 - 4, or 1 by including 4/4.

Some possible answers are

(-4/4) - (4/4) = -1 - 1 = -2

(4 + 4 - 4)/(-4) = 4/(-4) = -1

(4 - 4) + (4 - 4) = 0 + 0 = 0

(4 + 4 - 4)/4 = 4/4 = 1

(4/4) + (4/4) = 1 + 1 = 2

(4 + 4 + 4)/4 = 12/4 = 3

4 + (4 - 4)/4 = 4 + 0 = 4
