Explanation:

Make factors of 80

80 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 5

Make the two smallest values

that will be 8 , 10

This the smallest possible value of x + y = 18

Answer:

A natural number is 1, 2, 3, 4, ...... with no 0 or negative number. The smallest natural number is 1 so if x=1 and y=2 then the smallest possible value of x+y is 3.
