The original price of the DVD player purchased by south campus dormitory is $500.

Solution:

Given, South campus dormitory just purchased a new DVD player on sale for $375.

The sale price was 75% of the original price.

We have to find what was the original price Of the DVD player?

Now we know that, sale price = 75% of original price

Substituting the sales price value we get

375 = 75% of original price

\begin{array}{l}{375=(75)/(100) * \text { original price }} \\\\ {\text { Original price }=375 * (100)/(75)=5 * 100=500}\end{array}

Hence, the original price of the DVD player is $500.
