Answer:

(a) f(0) = 0

(b) I included a picture

Explanation:

You have a piecewise function. These types of functions are created by pieces, in this case you have two. For every value of x that is less or equal than 1 you will use the function x^2, and for every value of x that is greater than 1 you will use 2x +1.

(a) evaluate f(0)

This means that you have to substitute 0 in every x of the function. Since 0 is less than 1, you will use x^2

f(x) = x^2

f(0) = (0)^2

f(0) = 0

(b) for the graph, you can make a table of values

f(-2) = (-2)^2 = 4

f(-1) = (-1)^2 = 1

f(0) = (0)^2 = 0

f(1) = (1)^2 = 4

f(2) = 2(2) + 1 = 5

f(3) = 2(3) + 1 = 7

f(4) = 2(4) + 1 = 9
