The Coercive Acts were a British response to the American Boston Tea Party(in which Americans dumped British tea into the Boston Harbor). There were four parts to these acts. The first part was the Boston Act in which no ships could enter or leave Boston until all the tea dumped was payed for. The second part was the Administration of Justice Act which allowed governors to transfer trials of british soldiers and officials to a colonial council with a council appointed by the king. The third part is the Massachusetts Government Act which restructured the government of Massachusetts and replaced the colonial council with a council appointed by the king. The last part was the Quartering Act which forced American citizens to house British soldiers.
