Mr. Fix it want to fence a rectangular lot. He has 122 feet of fencing available. If the length is 25 feet more than the width, what are the dimensions of the lot?

Answer:

Width = 18 feet

Length = 43 feet

Explanation:

Width = x

Length = x +25

Perimeter = 122 feet

2 * (length + width) = 122

2 * (x+25 + x) =122

2x + 25 = 122/2

2x +25 = 61

2x = 61-25

2x = 36

x = 36/2

x = 18 feet

Width = 18 feet

Length = 18 + 25 = 43 feet
