Even though he implored his father to let him cease his fasting, without the expiration of the twelve days, he wasn't allowed to stop. In the end, he changed into a beautiful robin, "free from the cares and pains of human life". The above excerpt is from the beginning of the story which shows the father's hope that his son we be revered and respected by all if he finished his twelve days fasting.
