What’s 4.3 x .8 because I just don’t get it

Explanation:

When multiplying decimals, multiply them like they are normal numbers. Then, put the decimal dot in the correct place. You can find the correct place to put the dot through two methods.

1) estimate the sum. 4.3 rounds to 4. 0.8 rounds to 1.

4*1=4

43*8=344

Since the estimate is 4, the decimal should go in between the 3 and 4, so the answer is 3.44

2)find how many places from the one digit the decimal point is.

in 4.3, the decimal point is 1 place to the right of the ones digit.

in 0.8, the decimal point is 1 place to the right of the ones digit

both are one place to the right. Thus, 1+1=2 so you will need to move the decimal point 2 times to the left of 43*8, which is 344.

344 => 3.44

3.44. The number of 4.3 isn’t multipled by a number greater than one, it becomes smaller
