X=9/5

Step1 : reduce the fraction with 2
X=-2/5 = 7/5

Step 2: move constant to the right side and change its sign
X=7/5+2/5

Step 3: add the fractions
X=7/5 + 2/5
X=9/5

Answer:

x=18

Explanation:

when I looked at it I thought of 14/10=7/5

because 14/10 divide by 2 from top and bottom you'd get 7/5

so I looked at x and try to get 14 on the top.

the mathematic way to do it is cross multiply and the solve for x.

you should spend up with (x-4)*5=(10)*7

(x-4)*5 would be 5x-20 by distribution (you have to distribute the 5)

(10)*7=70

5x-20=70. you add 20 to both sides to cancel it from the x side

5x=90

then divide 5 from both sides to get x alone.

x=18

all of that is if the x is next to the 4 on top

if it's x- 4/10 then it's a different solution.

hope that helped
