There was a major change between 1763 to 1783 in the colonial ideas about American Independence. First, the colonies wanted to remain a part of the British Empire, they wanted to be respected and represented in the British Parliament and demanded representation for taxation. The problem was that the British government ignored the colonies' requests, with that the colonies' ideas began to change and switched from demanding representation to demanding independence.
