If the reservoir of the Non-rebreather mask completely deflates , then we must immediately check the oxygen supply and the oxygen pressure.

Step-by-step explanation:

  • A non-re-breatherNRB) mask is used in oxygen therapy when a patient needs Higher concentration of Oxygen.
  • NRB mask is designed to prevent the inhalation of external air and re-inhalation of air exhaled by the patient.
  • It is filled with oxygen to about 2/3 of its volume before it is placed on a patient.
  • Each time the patient inhales 1/3 of the reservoir empties and again fills with the oxygen coming from supply.
  • Thus when placed on a patient it will never deflate completely till the oxygen supply is running.
  • In case it deflates ,it raises an alarming situation and one must check the oxygen supply so that the patient does not suffocate to death.
