Answer:

The solution of x/42= 3/7 using two different strategies is x = 18

Solution:

Given, expression is
(x)/(42)=(3)/(7)

We have to solve the above given expression using two different strategies.

Now let us use cross multiplication,

\text { Then, } (x)/(42)=(3)/(7) \rightarrow x * 7=3 * 42 \rightarrow 7 x=126 \rightarrow x=(126)/(7) \rightarrow x=18

So the value of x is 18.

Now let us use comparison method,

Then,
(x)/(42)=(3)/(7) for comparison in our problem denominators should be equal so multiply R.H.S fraction with 6 and divide with 6.

\rightarrow (x)/(42)=(3)/(7) * (6)/(6) \rightarrow (x)/(42)=(18)/(42)

Now by comparison x = 18. Hence, the value of x is 18.
