The least expensive kind of health insurance pays only for “catastrophic" health issues such as emergency room visits and major injuries. More expensive kinds of health insurance usually pay for preventive health care, such as checkups and screenings for common diseases. If you were paying for your own insurance, would you buy catastrophic insurance, or pay extra for preventive health care? Explain your reasons.

Answer:

It is better to opt for preventive health care insurance by paying extra rather than catastrophic insurance.

Step-by-step explanation:

As it is well known fact that prevention is always better than cure, it will be better if any disease is diagnosed early by health check ups and screenings which will be covered by the preventive health care insurance in addition to emergency conditions and major injuries. Often it may happen that many disease remain undetected or neglected at an early stage which later may become dreaded one demanding emergency hospitalization. In such cases the survival chances are low and sufferings would be much more. But on contrary, preventive heath care insurance has provisions for health check ups and screening for early detection and treatment of diseases thereby increasing the chances of survival and sufferings are much less. In emergency situation both the catastrophic insurance and preventive health care insurance will cover up the expense, but it could not increase the chances of survival and minimize the sufferings. As life is precious, so the extra costing for preventive health care insurance is justified.
