Answer: The Great Awakening revitalized the spiritual experience of the common man. Christianity has once again become something personal and important.

Other immediate results were that Awakening wiped out the idea (at least for a century) that unconverted people could be ordained to the ministry. The cause of missions among the native American advanced.

Some of the most important people of the Great Awakening were George Whitfield, Jonathan Edwards, and Gilbert Tennent. They were the leaders of the movement.

Edwards lit the first fire of revival; George Whitfield blew the flames until they were incandescent and scattered them throughout New England and the southern colonies. Gilbert Tennent was a preacher and called for Whitfield of "son of a thunder".
