Suppose, all parts are equal.

The area of rug is


A_(r)=7*7

Area of one part of rug is


A'_(1)=3.5*3.5

We need to calculate the probability that the coin will land on an area that is white

Using formula of probability


P=(Area\of\ white\ part)/(Area\of\ total\ rug)

Put the value into the formula


P=((3.5*3.5)+(3.5*3.5))/(7*7)


P=(2*3.5*3.5)/(7*7)


P=(1)/(2)
