The crew receives a check for ​$5600 for a job they just finished. A journeyman makes 200​% of what an apprentice​ makes, and a master makes 250​% of what a journeyman makes. How much does each person on the crew​ earn?

Explanation:

Let the earnings of the apprentice be x.

Then, earnings of journeyman is 200% = 200/100 = 2 times of apprentice.

Hence, earnings of the journeyman is 2x.

Again, earnings of master is 250% = 250/100 = 2.5 times of journeyman.

Hence, earnings of the master is 2.5*2x = 5x.

Total earnings = Earnings of apprentice + journeyman + master = $5600

=> x + 2x + 5x = $5600

=> 8x = $5600

=> x = $700

Hence,

Earnings of apprentice = x = $700

Earnings of journeyman = 2x = $1400

Earnings of master = 5x = $3500
