Coates's evidence was much more effective in the case of reparations by the following;

  • Reparations for slavery means that compensatory payment should be made to the descendants of Africa who were enslaved in America during the Atlantic Slave trade.
  • Black people were forced to work without pay.
  • Slavery has made the U.S. the wealthiest nation in the world.
  • America did not stand by its promise that it would give 40 acres of land and a mule to the slaves which means 20$ per week as per today.
  • Coates has also authored a book mentioning his struggle before attending Howard University.
  • Thus, there is a strong case of reparation and the blacks are owed around $24 trillion, as the unpaid wages to around 10 million slaves during that time.
  • Whites have inherited the wealth from free black labor and blacks continue to face the effect of slavery.
