  2. List the alternatives: what are our available options to solving the problem.
  3. Select the criteria: what exact things are important in order to solve this problem.
  4. Evaluate the alternatives: which alternatives meet the criteria (+), which don't (-).
  5. Make a decision: add the plus signs to determine which alternative satisfies the most criteria.
