Explanation:

Since 2 minuses make a plus we rewrite our problem like this -5/18+1/4.Using the ECD method(easiest common deominator)we multiply the deominator of the second fraction which is 4 with -5/18= 4/4 x -5/18 which gives us the new fraction -20/72 which we replace with -5/18.For the next fraction 1/4 we multiply the denominator of the first fraction which is 18=18/18 x 1/4=18/72.

Now we have common denominators which is 72.So now we just replace the equation -5/18 - (-1/4) with -20/72+18/72 which equals to -1/36
