Carbohydrates and lipids are made of only carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Proteins are made of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen.

Answer and Explanation:

Proteins are made up of small units called amino acids. Proteins, like carbohydrates and lipids, are compounds of carbon hydrogen and oxygen. However, unlike carbohydrates and lipids, proteins also contain the element nitrogen and are hence called nitrogenous compounds.

In addition to nitrogen, proteins also contain phosphorus or sulphur or both. The combination of two amino acids form a dipeptide molecule.
