Ill fares the land, to hastening ills a prey,

Where wealth accumulates, and men decay:
Princes and lords may flourish, or may fade;
A breath can make them, as a breath has made;
But a bold peasantry, their country's pride,
When once destroyed can never be supplied. (Lines 51-56)

The greed that destroys the peasantry eventually drives Poetry herself to leave England.

What does the above quote from The Deserted Village, lines 51-56, mean?

Answer:

The England forget about itself

Step-by-step explanation:

The poem shows, that, through people interested in exploring the riches of the countryside, the earth becomes depressed, and through its destruction decides to die.

Shows a bolder field worker who is interested in the goods of his land, makes her never again the beautiful and beautiful England she once was.
