You usually buy a 5.4 ounce bottle of lotion. There is a new bottle that says it gives you 20% more free.

Use the drop-down menus to build an equation that could be used to find the size of the larger bottle, x.

Answer: x= 0.20(5.4) or x=0.20 (5.4 ounces).

Explanation:

Given : You usually buy a 5.4 ounce bottle of lotion.

There is a new bottle that says it gives you 20% more free.

i.e. Size of new bottle = 20% of 5.4 ounces

= 0.20 (5.4 ounces) [we divide percentage by 100 to convert it into decimal]

Also, the size of the larger bottle is given to be x.

i.e. x=0.20 (5.4 ounces)

On solving , we get

x= 1.08 ounces

Hence, required equation is x= 0.20(5.4) or x=0.20 (5.4 ounces).
