However, it is not clear she actually understands that her bad choices and behavior will result in going to hell. When she is asked a question that she doesn't have an answer that has been taught to her, she uses her own thoughts. Her answer that she just shouldn't die would definitely keep her out of hell, but it isn't what Mr. Brocklehurst is hoping she'll say.
