Belief perseverance is the tendency to cling to our beliefs in the face of contrary evidence. It is an inherent human behavior. An example, a small group of people who still think that the Earth is flat even though they are normal members of modern society. In other words, people expend considerable mental energy to maintain their beliefs when presented with facts that prove them wrong.
