A car detailing company charges $30 per hour plus $18 another company charges $20 plus $25 per hour how long will the job take for the same price no matter which company does the work

Explanation:

We can let "x" be the number of hours

We can write 2 equations for the 2 companies and then equate them to find the time (hour) it will take for them to be equal.

Company 1:

30 fixed

plus

18 per hour for x hours = 18x

Equation = 30 + 18x

Company 1:

20 fixed

plus

25 per hour for x hours = 25x

Equation = 20 + 25x

Now we equate and find x:


30+18x=20+25x\\30-20=25x-18x\\10=7x\\x=(10)/(7)

So it will take
(10)/(7) hours for them to be equal
