In an election of 2 candidates, Freda received 60% of the votes and Sonja the rest. If Freda won by 28 votes, how many people voted

Total number of people who voted in the elections = 140.

Explanation:

Votes received by Freda = 60%

So, the votes received by Sonja = (100 - 60)% = 40%

So difference between the votes of Sonja and Freda = 60% - 40% = 20%

Also Freda won by 28 votes, so difference between their votes = 28 votes

Let the total number of people voted = K

Now, according to the question

20 % of K = 28


(20)/(100)  * K = 28\\

⇒ K = 2800/20 = 140

So, the total number of people who voted in the elections are 140.
