The local library has a children's section with picture books and chapter books. The

ratio is 2:3. If there are a total of 500 books in the children's section, then how many
chapter books are in the section?

2 picture books to 3 chapter books.

We need to find what to multiply each side by to get 500.

2x : 3x = 500

2x + 3x = 5x

5x = 500

Divide each side by 5

x = 100

2 * 100 = 200

3 * 100 = 300

200 : 300

200 + 300 = 500

There are 200 picture books and 300 chapter books.

500 divided by 5 is 100. 100x3 is 300. So the answer is 300 chapter books
